The
East Indian Kitchen is a collection of recipes alongside the
history of the community of East Indians who took on the
nomeclature by wanting to disassociate themselves from the Goans
at the time.
The book combines aspects of the culture, traditions and
culinary practices followed by the Christian community “East
Indians” of Mumbai. The narrative and recipes are enriched with
the sketches of artists Eustace Fernandes and the photography by
Michael and Pravin Pol.
Completely different from its Goan counterpart. And mainly the
cuisine from Mumbai to Daman. The villages of Bassein are still
ripe with the culture of the community.
The East Indian Kitchen
Based on the Indo – Portuguese fusion cooking.
